About

Published by Suzy

Hi. My name is Suzy and I’m the founder of ThinkDwell, as well as the writer of the ThinkDwell Blog. I received a Bachelors of Science in Architecture with a concentration in Urban Studies from Northeastern University (Boston) and also studied at Wentworth Institute of Technology (Boston) and the American Institute for Roman Culture (Rome).

I’ve worked for various architecture firms in Massachusetts and Hawai’i, and currently for ThinkDwell on domestic and international projects that include residential, industrial, and commercial design for both private and public sectors.

I founded ThinkDwell when I noticed the distinct need for good, affordable design in the US. To me, coming from a family that did not feel like it could afford an architect, it seemed as though the field of architecture had limited itself to high end, very expensive homes and ignored the needs of the large middle class. It is important to me to incorporate sustainability and education as two of ThinkDwell’s major priorities, with an emphasis on affordability. You can read more about ThinkDwell at www.thinkdwell.com.

Buildings create pollution, just as cars create pollution. The materials and methods we use to build them affect us at an individual scale and the environment at a greater scale. I feel that it is my responsibility as a designer of buildings to take my knowledge and pass it on in a way that is effective. I think this blog will do just that, not only because it has some great suggestions about how to minimize your impact on the environment and reinforces your motivation to do so, but because every entry is short, to the point, and you can read it even on your busiest days in a few seconds.

We all want to lead healthy and happy lives. We find it hard to stay healthy in a society of people that drive more often than walk, eats fast food, don’t recycle, and know very little about sustainable products and design. I commend you for taking an interest in the topics you will find on theĀ ThinkDwell Blog! I hope you can put these tips and bits of information to good use. If you have any questions or comments, please use the comment tab below. I highly encourage everyone to become involved in learning about sustainability and how to make your own life more productive, healthy and happy! Don’t forget; what you learn, you can also teach.

Stay Green,

Suzy

    Dear Susan,

I am contacting you because I came across your site as I was doing research for asbestos exposure and diseases and saw that you have a link to asbestos.com.

Because I found your sight helpful, I clicked the link but soon realized that the site was not nearly as comprehensive or well kept as others on the web. At the end of my research I realized that http://www.maacenter.org was the best of all the sites I saw in my opinion.

I decided to make you aware of this and hopefully you can replace the link or at least add the link to enhance your site for your users in the future. Hope to hear back soon!

    Sincerely,

    Ryan
